Patient Reviews
  • “Dr Schroeder is wonderful. He and his staff make sure that everything I need and all my questions are answered. This group of doctors and assistants are the best and I would recommend them - oh yeah I have recommend them - to anyone. You cannot ask for better care.”

    – Jacqueline M.

"Dr. Schroeder did a hip replacement for me and I had little to no pain. This is the 2nd surgery he has done for me and I had the same experience both times......very little to no pain. I spent 3 days in the hospital, St. Alexis—very good hospital. I would give that hospital very high marks. I have been off of work since October 4th and hope to be returning with in a few weeks. If it wasn't for the Arthritis I suffer from, I would have been ready sooner. Dr. Schroeder is a very good doctor, and if I was to have another surgery, he would be my choice."

    – Christa W.

"He's still my favorite there. Very gentle and kind with his patients."

    – Judi S.

"Dr. Schroeder is a compassionate physician who answers all your questions and concerns."

    – Lorraine J.

"Very thorough, courteous, patient and responsive to all questions. Provides clear and realistic view of treatment, recovery, follow-up and return to previous level of activity. Very knowledgeable and articulate, and very professional...and a very nice person."

    – Steve G.

"Had partial knee replacement on 2/12/16 and was back umpiring baseball on 4/12/16. PT was great and knee is feeling super!"

    – Vincent M.

"I went to Dr. Schroeder for my left knee problem after having a poorly replaced right knee by another group. He tried several procedures on my knee before we both agreed total replacement was the best option. He did not force the issue of surgery first, as many others do. I never left his office with unanswered questions. He and his whole staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and gentle with this 87 year old patient. My left knee healed well and feels great and now he is helping me with the pain in the poorly replaced knee. He provided options and his thoroughness revealed a bone infection which took two months in rehab to heal.  He provided the name of Dr. Belcher in his group to deal with the pain not relieved by the surgeries. She also has been as gentle as she could be with the painful injections I received, but she was able to do a nerve block on my right knee which relieved the pain significantly. I can't say enough about this group and refer my friends to you often."

    - Dolores L.

  • "Always a pleasant and very informative appointment when dealing with Dr. Schroeder."

    - Jim K.

"I had 2 partial knees done a year or so apart about 4 years ago. I was just back for a re-check and all was well. I am so happy with both knees. I have not had any problems with either one. I can walk and dance without a bit of a pain in either one. I am so happy I had the surgery."

    - Kathleen E.

"Had my right knee replaced on Dec. 2nd and went to Claremont for rehab. My first appointment was on Dec. 20th. Dr. Schroeder did such a wonderful job and I worked hard to get therapy done that I was standing on my leg by itself for over a minute. I was able to do squats. Dr. Schroeder was amazed that I was able to do this. I said his surgery was great and I could say he had 50% of the credit. He released me to drive. Told me I was the first person at 18 days after a knee replacement to be driving. I have no pain and feel great!! Thanks Doc! Best my knee has felt in years!"

    - Jacqueline M.

"Highly recommend. I was referred here by friend who had surgery from Dr. Schroeder with good results. Dr. Schroeder offered expert insight, while inspiring hope and confidence. He clearly had my well being in focus. I do a fair amount of research and have met with a few doctors to explore potential knee surgery. Dr. Schroeder suggested a knee brace and I got fitted and soon received it. Paul McSweeney, on staff as the brace specialist, also gets highest marks. He took the time to fully explain what I needed to do to best use my space age looking brace. Happy to report I was able to go to the beach with my family and grandson, Ryder, and even though I walked more than a bit , no pain. If I choose surgery, I will come here. The entire place, staff, and atmosphere is highly professional, caring and very efficient. Likely all reasons why the waiting room is full. Highly recommend them."

    - Stefan L.

"My whole family and I have been with Dr. Schroeder for many, many years. I have always had wonderful care with him. This last experience was with a new doctor, Dr. Bernstein. He gave me wonderful care, and I have healed from my injury. I have always been pleased with the service and care offered by Barrington Orthopedic Specialists!"

    - Charlotte H.

  • "Dr. Schroeder did a fantastic job on my shoulder. After only 9 weeks I'm using it to do everything! While still a little stiff in the morning, it usually goes away in a while. I can't thank him enough for giving me the use of my left arm back!!"

    – Judy B.

"Excellent experience as usual. The doc and his staff are patient and clear, always willing to answer any questions I have. Very professional."

    – Joel F.

"He is very kind and listened to all my concerns and answered them. My surgery went just as he said it would. I am totally happy."

    – Walter R.

"Dr. Schroeder has been wonderful. Very patient and I am extremely happy and lucky to have him as my doctor."

    – Linda S.

"Always very knowledgeable and takes the time to listen and answer questions."

    – Janice K.

"I go into the office and from the gals behind the desk, to the physicians assistances, you feel welcome and that you matter. Then the doctor comes in and always makes sure all your questions are answered. No rushing! This is a great place to go when you need a knee replacement or your rotator cuff repaired. Recommend this practice to many people! Love them."

    - Jacqueline M.

"Dr. Schroeder continues to offer professional, but human advice & procedures to keep this old athlete going. Over the years, he has fixed both of my knees & hand so I can stay in the race. No one I've met in the orthopedic realm can come anywhere near to his knowledge in his field. He has made my life much better."

    - Art N.

"My family has used Barrington Orthopedic Specialists for over 30 years. Our doctor has always been Dr. Keith Schroeder. He has always been very knowledgeable, caring, thorough, and professional. I myself have had four joint replacements and each one has been perfect. Being a pharmacist, I have had the opportunity to refer my patients to him. I truly believe in his ability to help patients."

  • "I injured my shoulder during a fall. I was already having pain in the same shoulder and it was getting better with a cortisone injection just one week before. But during my fall, when I heard all of the crunching, popping, and tearing, I knew that this was much more serious. An MRI showed at least one torn tendon along with a lot of old damage from 50 years of being an automotive technician. Dr. Schroeder performed the rotor cuff surgery and also removed some bone spurs while there. I had some previous damage that could not be repaired, but he said I will get back to 70%-80% of full strength, and with that, I am happy! The people I know who had this type of surgery told me how horrible the pain would be. At a young 69 years old, I still wanted the ability to do things for myself. Dr. Schroeder told me every surgery is different and he was right! I have had little pain during my recovery, actually, no pain at all 95% of the time. My surgery was done one week ago and I could not be more pleased! Several of my family members have had various surgeries done by Dr. Schroeder, so when I started to have the problems most of us elderly people seem to have, he came with a strong recommendation from my family members. I could not be happier! Not only is Dr. Schroeder a good doctor, he is a good person too. He listens well and, in my opinion, he has to be among the very elite in his profession."

"I am currently receiving Physical Therapy with Barrington Orthopedics and I want to write and let you know how amazing your therapists are.  Since a serious ski accident in 1988 and two subsequent hop replacements, (the second with Paul Nourbash,) I have lots of PT experience.  Your therapists are THE BEST, bar non.  Unlike many therapy centers that put the patient on a machine and walk away, your hands on approach is not only refreshing, but it is so much more effective than anything else I've experience  Karen Ziegler is currently treating me for chronic back pain and she is fantastic.  She has helped me so much and continues to be responsive to my changing symptoms.  I have also seen Neha Chavda, Lisa Klein, and Kaitln Millin.  Each of them have been consistently professional, but  most importantly, they collaboratively have diagnosed the cause of my pain and are now treating not just the symptoms, but also the cause.  Their techniques are state of the art and they always give me personal attention and the time I need.  My pain is greatly diminished and I am confident it will be gone by the time my treatments are over.  In today's medical climate, where the bottom line often is a higher priority than the patient's care, Barrington Orthopedics has its priorities right.  Don't change a thing.  The personal touch, the hands on therapy and the professional staff - from front desk to therapists and assistants - are all a breath of fresh air. Thanks so much for a great experience."

    - Monica K.

  • "Dr. Schroeder did an outstanding operation on my shoulder. Here I am a year later and my shoulder is almost 100%. The operation and recovery was relatively pain free and the therapy afterwards was extremely helpful."

    - Bob D.

"He always explains the course of treatment and is patient with all my questions and concerns and always answers all my questions. I was referred to Dr. Schroeder by a church friend who went to him. I have referred a friend of mine to go see Dr. Schroeder for a second opinion on her knee." - Carol D.

"I come in with a bad knee and he fixes it up everytime. He also fixed my shoulder with a little loving care."

    - Donna O.

"The best experience possible. I am now living outside IL and sincerely miss the wonderful healthcare I got at Barrington Orthopedic Specialists. From the medical team to the PT team, the treatments prescribed for my pain and the sincere concern was encouraging and uplifting during this very rough time. I have the highest regard for Barrington Orthopedic Specialists and its staff."

    - Phyllis H.

"Dr. Schroeder is great. He did both my knee replacements and I am grateful to have it done. Also, Dr. Mahoney was great too with Jesse and Stephanie who took great care of me with my broken ankle."

    – Linda P.

"Dr. Schroeder is always professional. He listens and answers my questions. He explains whatever he is going to do before he does it. The rooms are always immaculate. The entire experience is pleasant."

    – Pat P.

"From the moment I knew I needed a knee replacement, I started to exercise both legs to build up my balance and strength. What a difference that made. I requested a spinal with twilight and that is what I was able to have. What a difference to wake up without the groggy feeling. I started moving my feet back and forth right away to keep everything moving. By the time I left the hospital and went to the rehabilitation center, I was walking with a walker. Yes I had some pain, but if you work through it, it gets better. I found the more you used the CMP and did the exercises they taught you in PT in your room, you get better faster. I walked out of rehab on my own - no walker or cane!!!  Dr Schroeder and his group are great, but after they do their job, it is up to you to work hard and keep doing it - as they say - no pain no gain!  Thanks, Dr Schroeder!"

    - Jacqueline M.

  • "I had lost strength in my right arm and found through the regular process it was due to a large bone spur on my shoulder, which had severely torn 1 ligament and frayed 2 others. Dr. Schroeder answered all our questions and did not pressure me to have surgery, but told me exactly what would happen over time if I waited. Of course I waited, until one day, I could not even squeeze glue out of a bottle. I scheduled surgery for two weeks later. At the hospital, from the time I received an IV to when I woke up in recovery, I was treated well and had no pain. Dr. Schroeder did additional work during the surgery on my bicep making sure that my shoulder would be in 100% shape after surgery. He was more worried about me than the surgery schedule and that was good news to hear. I received pain block medicine that lasted 1.5 days, which was very helpful. I went back to work light duty in 4 days. Although the brace is difficult to work around during the 5 weeks I wore it, I am very happy I had the surgery and feel I have recovered more quickly than I expected. Sleeping is the most difficult part of having the surgery, as it is hard to find a comfortable place. The physical therapy team, especially Purwa Bhatt, has worked very hard to get me back to my regular range of motion and strength with a great combination of being gentle and firm. I am very grateful for Dr. Schroeder and his team for a helping me to recover quickly and with almost no pain. I would recommend Dr. Schroeder and Purwa Bhatt to anyone who needed to have shoulder surgery."

    - Joanne S.

"Dr. Schroeder repaired my left knee about 18 months ago and I now have no pain on that knee. I am scheduled to have the right knee repaired by Dr. Schroeder this month.  He is an excellent surgeon and I have the utmost confidence in having this second surgery."

    - James K.

"I had my right knee replaced in May. Last Saturday I was dancing and couldn't believe how low I could get during the Cha Cha Slide. I am so happy!"

    - John D.

"I had a knee replacement and could not have found a better doctor or a more helpful and friendly staff."
