What is workers compensation?

Worker’s compensation is a type of insurance that pays for your medical care when you become injured on the job.

What is an Industrial Rehabilitation Program?

Barrington Orthopedic Specialists offers an Industrial Rehabilitation Program at the Schaumburg location.  The program is designed to safely return the injured worker to full duty work following the completion of their acute therapy.  An Industrial Rehab Specialist performs a functional evaluation to assess the individual worker and the physical demands of their job to develop a customized Work Conditioning Program.

The Work Conditioning Program incorporates job specific activities with endurance activities, strength training, and flexibility training in a controlled environment to best facilitate a safe transition back to full duty work.

What is an independent medical examination?

Your employer or worker’s compensation provider may ask you to have an independent medical examination (IME).

The IME is usually done to verify the type and severity of your injury and to get an estimated time when you’ll be able to return to work.

Can you get a second opinion?

The physicians at Barrington Orthopedic Specialists can provide a second medical opinion when needed.
